About The Bookkeeping Xpert
I’m Blake, founder of The Bookkeeping Xpert, and I’ve been immersed in the construction world my entire life. My father is a residential project manager. My grandfather is a real estate developer. My mother has run finance and operations for multiple trade businesses for decades, and my uncle owns a commercial contracting company. Growing up in this environment gave me a front-row seat to how projects are built from the jobsite to the books.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with minors in Mathematics and Biology from the University of North Texas. My background in mathematics, statistics, and analytical chemistry taught me how to work with accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. These skills now guide my approach to every set of books I manage.
My path into bookkeeping became clear when, with my construction knowledge and STEM foundation, I built the accounting system for a multi-million dollar general contracting company from the ground up. I created the chart of accounts, implemented job costing systems, and prepared detailed work-in-progress (WIP) reports for bonding agents and CPAs — ensuring every dollar was accounted for with accuracy and clarity.
I have also worked as an in-house estimator and handled project management tasks such as RFIs, change orders, submittals, contracts, and proposals. Working alongside every trade has given me a deep understanding of how contractors operate, allowing me to communicate effectively with both field crews and financial professionals.
Clients describe me as neat, organized, and reliable. My philosophy is simple: accuracy above all. Contractors deserve clear, visible financials that help them make confident decisions. No surprises. No disorganization. Just clean, reliable books.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about biology, horticulture, and reef-keeping, and I share my home with two dogs and a cat. Whether I’m managing a thriving reef tank or balancing a contractor’s books, I approach everything with the same dedication to detail and precision.
